something I read and liked:

A Creed for Life
Basketball Hall of Fame member (as both player and coach) John Robert Wooden’s father, Joshua Hugh Wooden, gave him a Seven Point Creed when he graduated from elementary school. It served him well and is well worth considering. Here it is:
  1. Be true to yourself.
  2. Make each day your masterpiece.
  3. Help others.
  4. Drink deeply from good books, especially the Bible.
  5. Make friendship a fine art.
  6. Build a shelter against a rainy day.
  7. Pray for guidance and give thanks for your blessings everyday
You are unique. Cultivate your self. Make the most of it.

Congrats on getting engaged. Found this blog for the first time. I also read about lots of his values in Sports Illustrated. It mentioned how he wrote his wife a letter every month after she died on the day of the month she passed. It was like 20 years...that kind of showed me his neat character.
